Priscilla Jezi is a Chartered Development Finance Analyst (CDFA), with more than 20 years’ experience in finance, with a focus on Development Finance, Transition Finance and Climate Finance. She has a strong background of energy, followed by agriculture financing. She is a Head of Funding and Acting Treasurer at Agricultural and Land Development Bank of South Africa. She is also with the Centre of Sustainable Transitions (CST) at Stellenbosch University as a PhD. candidate researching Sustainability – Transition Finance (final year). She holds a Masters degree (Mcomm) in Development Finance with the University of Cape Town. A proven track record as a lead negotiator and closing long term, high-impact concessional financing facilities on Sustainable finance. She played a vital role as a lead in the First Just Energy Transition in South Africa, working closely with Presidency.
She has gained extensive experience in sourcing of development, climate, sustainability linked funding and innovative blended finance. Sourcing of grant funding, project preparation funds, technical assistance, and debt funding with both multilateral and bilateral development banks such as World Bank, NDB, CDB, Kfw, AFDB etc. including negotiating facilities with AFD, DBSA, Climate Investment Fund, Canadian climate Funds etc. facilities that supports sustainable finance, the facilities also including impact funders, philanthropies e.g., GEAP and USTDA agencies. This entails loan agreement terms negotiations, innovative deal structuring and Investment management, as a result deep understanding of loan agreement covenants of different lenders.
Her experience includes developing transition finance framework, sustainability linked financial instruments, ESG framework and PPP framework working both with DFIs and Commercial Banks.
