Dr. Ric Amansure

Dr. Ric Amansure is a leading African expert on Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), climate finance, and just energy transitions. At CST he coordinates multi-partner initiatives with the African Association of DFIs (AADFI), the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), and the Finance in Common/Global Research Network to strengthen DFI capacity and climate-aligned project preparation. He authored the Financing Africa’s Transition – A Strategic Handbook for Africa’s DFIs, develops readiness scorecards and toolkits used by practitioners, and convenes FinJET, a postgraduate programme training the next generation of transition financiers.

Ric’s career spans executive leadership and impact delivery across the public–private–philanthropy interface, including service as CEO of Mercy Ships Southern Africa and senior roles in communications, fundraising and strategy at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation. He holds a PhD in Developmental Studies focussing on the renewable energy sector and has pioneered socio-economic and enterprise development models linked to renewable energy value chains. Focus areas include DFI capacity building; climate-aligned investment; project preparation and PPPs and justice and inclusion in energy transitions.
